Become a Florida Notary Public To become a notary public in Florida it is a fairly standard procedure as with any other state. Effective Jan 1. 2000 you must take a 3 hour long notary public education course. In addition to the course you must also have the following qualifications; be 18 years of age, be a legal resident of the State of Florida, read the Florida notary public laws and sign the Oath of Office, and if you have been convicted of a felony, you must prove that your civil rights have been restored.
